Multibody
-
3d_mec:
a program for numerical, symbolical and graphical treatment of vectorial expressions and equations in mechanics.
-
Computational
technologies for the visualization of symbolically modeled problems in engineering dynamics
A set of package demos for the symbolic solution of open-loop rigid body
systems (within Mathematica,
not all that free software, though) and the numerical solution of rigid-body
and beam-like open-loop systems in a Lagrangian approach.
The two use a GUI based on Open CASCADE,
a LGPL-like (but carefully read the license) C++ library for building GUIs.
The license of the multibody software and of the GUI is unclear,
but all products can be downloaded after sending an email to the developer.

DynaFlex
-
DynaMechs
-
EasyDyn:
a C++ library for the simulation of problems represented
by second-order (or first-order) differential equations
and, more particularly, multibody systems.
-
KinSynth:
a website for multibody-related educational software discussion and exchange,
hosted by Università La Sapienza, Roma.
-
MBDyn
-
MBS3D:
an easy-to-use open-source general-purpose program for the dynamic simulation of multibody systems. It is entirely programmed as plain-text in MATLAB and uses a very efficient and tested mathematical semi-recursive formulation. It covers open-chain and closed-loop systems.
-
MechXML:
a draft for a new language to define Multibody Systems.
It is based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language),
the standard meta-language to data interchange.
In the current version, only rigid bodies are being considered.
-
Open Dynamics Engine
- Robotran:
ROBOTRAN is a computer program which generates
kinematic and dynamical models of multibody systems
in a symbolic manner.

-
FreeCASE:
DIAPM's Free(dom) Computational AeroServoElasticity site
hosts links to the free software they develop.
-
NeoCASS (Next generation Conceptual Aero Structural Sizing)
is a free suite of Matlab modules that combines state of the art computational,
analytical and semi-empirical methods to tackle all the aspects
of the aero-structural analysis of a design layout at conceptual design stage.
